Works (2008–14): New Zealand

Works (2015–): Brazil and Portugal

The web pages 'Works (2008–14)' and 'Works (2015–)' contain dozens of my works painted in a variety of oil/acrylic and mixed-media styles during the last decade. The subjects include landscapes and portraits mainly of Afro-Bahian (Brazil) and occasionally of native Māori (New Zealand) people. The portraits of Afro-Bahian and Māori people represent an attempt to suggest the unique and diverse aspects of their cultures. I have also experimented with a variety of portrait modalities such as oil on gold leaf on leather in the Renaissance triptych style, as illustrated below in my 'Triptych on Leather Suitcase' (2014).

Many of the paintings shown on these web pages have been exhibited in public venues and hung in private collections in New Zealand, Brazil and Portugal. I have been fortunate to have had the experience not only of participating in a number of art competitions but also in receiving membership and art award (prize) certificates. I sign my paintings with the names 'Najla' and 'Najla Dominik'.
